Welcome & Best ways to utilize industry inbox as a marketing tool
This article is for our Performer members. We are so thrilled that you are sharing your journey with us. In this post, we will talk about marketing your performing arts career, how to effectively use our system, and what types of postcard campaigns we have / how to use them. Let's dive in!
It is a widely held belief that success in the entertainment industry is about ‘who you know’.
But more accurately, it’s about ‘who knows you’.
‘Who knows you’ is not an easy thing to accomplish properly. You don’t just go knocking on doors, making random phone calls or spamming people’s email or social media accounts. All of those things reflect an unwillingness to accept professional boundaries (even if that is not your intention) and will create NEGATIVE impressions about you. So if that’s how someone in the entertainment field knows you, a door that you are hoping to walk through has probably been locked.
As an Actor who has also worked behind the camera learning many facets of the industry, I understand the value of professional relationships and the boundaries therein. I came up with the idea for Industry Inbox to help other performers connect and market themselves to entertainment executives in a healthy, productive way.
I am writing this article to help you understand the best practices for using this service, to give you an overall picture of why marketing yourself is important and to see clearly defined expectations of your marketing campaigns (with this service or outside of this service). You may notice we capitalize titles like Dancer, Actor, Casting Director, Agent, Manager and the like. I realize that is not commonplace, but we do so out of respect for all of the hard workers in the business. And we think you have earned that respect.
